June 21st & June 22nd 1996 The Marlowe Players presented Remember Me by Raymond Gumbley |
|
|
The play is set in the head of the writer, and poses three questions for its audience: What drives a person to create a piece of artwork? What is art? and Who are we doing it for? The writer believes that we can all relate to our ancestral spirits for maybe three generations back, but after this it gets harder to connect them spiritually unless we are related to a 'name'- someone in history who has left behind a piece of work which will leave them eternally remembered by their audiences and family as though they were still living here with us today, like Shakespeare, Van Gough, Potter, Byron, Shelley or Turner. The writer in this play gives his answers to these three thought provoking questions but asks his audience to answer the questions themselves. |
